How DLI Works in GrowScope
DLI (daily light integral) is the total usable light a plant receives over a full day — PPFD accumulated across the whole photoperiod. There is no form field anywhere in GrowScope that accepts a raw DLI number: it is always a calculated, read-only value.
How to do this in GrowScope
- Record a PPFD reading for the plant (see PPFD documentation) and make sure its light hours (photoperiod) are set.
- Open the plant's Light section or the Grow Lab plant screen.
- DLI is shown automatically, alongside a target range for the plant's current growth stage.
DLI (Daily Light Integral)
- Category
- Lighting
- Purpose
- Show the total light a plant receives per day, computed from PPFD and photoperiod.
- Input
- None — DLI is never entered directly. It is derived as PPFD × photoperiod (hours) × 3600 ÷ 1,000,000.
- Unit
- mol/m²/day
- Location
- Light reading history and the plant's Grow Lab screen (current DLI + target range)
- User action
- None required — DLI updates automatically whenever a PPFD reading and a light-hours value exist
- Output
- A DLI figure is displayed with a target range that shifts automatically as the plant's growth stage changes. Outdoor placements (balcony/terrace) get a sun-window- and photoperiod-based DLI instead of one derived from a PPFD reading.
- Used by
- Light assessment panel, Growth-stage-aware light targets
Notes
- DLI targets automatically differ between autoflowering and photoperiod plants, and change as a plant moves through its growth stages — this is computed, not something you configure.
Frequently asked questions
Can I enter a DLI target manually?
No. DLI is always calculated from a plant's PPFD reading and its photoperiod (light hours) — there is no manual DLI input field.
