GrowScope, feature by feature
What GrowScope actually does — and why
Each page below covers one real, shipped feature: the problem it solves, exactly how it works, and what it doesn't claim to do. Nothing here is aspirational — every mechanism described is grounded in the product as it runs today.
Get a diagnosis that knows this plant, not just a photo.
Upload up to four photos of your plant and the AI reads them against its individual history — strain, age, substrate, the last 21 days of its daily plan, and its EC/pH record. The result is an observation grounded in context, not a one-size-fits-all healthy-or-sick label.
Know whether to water today, and exactly how much.
Smart Watering gives you a daily recommendation — water today or wait — backed by your plant's recent readings. The AI proposes a dose, but a hard deterministic safety layer enforces the manufacturer's dosing window, so the AI can never recommend an amount outside the safe range.
See exactly how fast each plant is growing, week over week.
Each plant gets its own profile with height and canopy width measurements — both current values on the plant card and a full measurement history. A photo timeline and weekly AI growth comparison let you track development across your entire grow.
Turn your thermometer readings into a climate strategy.
Log temperature and humidity readings manually — no special sensors required. GrowScope calculates VPD from your numbers and derives a CO₂ target from the plant's stage and PPFD, using pure deterministic math. No AI credits are spent on climate calculations.
Stop guessing where the light actually lands.
GrowScope builds a physically modeled 3D map of light distribution in your grow space using Lambertian source modeling and mirror-reflected wall/ceiling/floor contributions with material-specific reflectance constants. Your own PPFD readings calibrate the model through logarithmic 3D IDW interpolation — this is not a wattage lookup table.
Build a nutrition plan for the whole cycle, not one day at a time.
GrowScope builds a full-cycle feeding calendar deterministically — zero AI credits — from your strain, pot size, substrate, and the products in your fertilizer cabinet. A separate AI advisor can help you discover and select real fertilizer products through web search.
Your grow diary, unreadable to anyone but you — including us.
As of September 2026, every GrowScope account encrypts its grow diary end-to-end and by default. Plant data, logs, notes, and saved AI-history text are encrypted on your own device before they ever reach the server, using a recovery-phrase-derived key hierarchy — not a policy promise, a mechanism.
Every photo you upload has its GPS, device, and timestamp data removed — automatically.
A phone photo carries more than the image — GPS coordinates, device model, and the exact time it was taken are embedded in the file by default. GrowScope strips all of it from every photo you upload, unconditionally, before it reaches storage.
Don't lose track of a batch between harvest and the jar.
Once you harvest, GrowScope opens a separate drying-and-curing journal for that batch, with your own target day count for each phase, daily jar-burping reminders during curing, and a one-tap way to move on early when a phase is done before the timer says so.
Your grow data, out of the app and into a spreadsheet, a file, or a printed page.
Every plant, completed cycle, measurement, task, and care-history entry in your account can be exported in three formats — a CSV archive for spreadsheets, a JSON file for your own tools, or a printable PDF report — free, for every user.
Every real milestone in your grow, turned into a score that only goes up.
GrowScope tracks 21 achievements across onboarding, streaks, harvests, scale, care, and mastery — each worth its own points. Your Grow Score is the sum of everything you've unlocked, mapped to one of 11 levels, and once you've earned something, it stays earned.
Know what a harvest actually cost you, in real currency, per gram.
Set your own electricity, water, and fertilizer prices once, and every completed cycle shows its actual cost — broken down by input, and converted to a cost-per-gram figure using that cycle's real harvest weight.
A harvest forecast that gets more accurate every cycle you finish.
GrowScope estimates a weight range and harvest date from your plant's canopy width and light readings. Once you have completed cycles of your own — ideally the same strain — that estimate blends in your own historical yield and duration, instead of relying on the base formula alone.
Stick a code on the pot, and scanning it opens that exact plant.
Generate a QR code for any plant, download or print it, and stick it on the pot. Scanning it opens that specific plant's page directly — no searching through a list, and the link only resolves for the account that actually owns that plant.
Every finished cycle, side by side, in one table.
Once you've archived two or more grow cycles, GrowScope lays them all out in a single comparison table — dry weight, grams per watt, grams per square meter, duration, and cost per gram — with the best result in each column marked automatically.
Is your grow actually improving, cycle over cycle? See it, don't guess it.
Pick a metric — yield, grams per watt, duration, or cost per gram — and GrowScope charts it across every completed cycle you've archived, in harvest order, marking your best and worst cycle and telling you whether the trend is improving, worsening, or stable.
The right checklist for exactly the phase your plant is in.
Every plant shows a checklist matched to its current phase — seedling, vegetative, flowering, or finish (which covers harvest prep through curing) — with each item's completion saved to that specific plant.
A short lesson on exactly what your plant needs, right now.
Alongside its phase checklist, every plant shows a short written lesson matched to its current phase — an intro and a few concrete tips on what actually matters at that stage, from a proseedling's first days through drying and curing.
Say what you noticed. Type nothing.
On the observation note field, a Pro voice-input button lets you dictate instead of type — speech recognition runs entirely in your browser, so no audio is ever sent anywhere, and the recognized text lands in the same editable field as a typed note before you save it.
See exactly where air actually pools in your box.
GrowScope builds a 3D airflow map from your real fans and filters — where air is moving, where it's stagnant, and whether a fan is blasting a plant directly. The map and the "Optimize ventilation" button that suggests what to change are both free, on any plan.
Put your plants side by side on one chart and see who's actually ahead.
GrowScope charts your own plants — growth, light, climate, feeding, or watering — with no extra data entry: it pulls straight from each plant's history you've already recorded. The chart itself is free; on Pro, AI can also write a comparison explaining exactly how two chosen plants differ.
Walk around your plant with your phone. Get a real 3D shape, not a guess.
3D Plant Scan turns a short walk around your plant, phone in hand, into height, crown width, footprint, envelope volume, and density — plus a lightweight 3D shape. Digital Twin then puts that exact shape on your grow box's 3D light and ventilation maps in place of a generic bush.
Watch a leaf's own color trend — not a number your phone's camera can't actually give you.
Leaf Color Scan photographs a leaf next to a printable black/gray/white calibration card in one frame, corrects for your camera and the light on it, and turns that into a greenness index. Every comparison is the same leaf position against its own past reading — never a universal chlorophyll number.
Use your leaves as an airflow sensor — see where the air actually reaches.
Airflow Scan watches leaf motion through your camera and turns it into a relative airflow map across the canopy, with dead zones and over-blasted spots called out by name. GrowScope then cross-checks that real reading against its own modeled ventilation map for the box, and tells you when the two disagree.
Catch a dying fan by how it shakes — before it actually stops.
Hold your phone against the fan's mount for five to ten seconds and Fan Analyzer builds a vibration fingerprint from the accelerometer — then compares it to that exact fan's own healthy baseline. A worn bearing, a loosening mount, or a new imbalance usually shows up in vibration well before the fan actually fails.
Sweep your camera over the canopy and see where the light map might be wrong.
Light Sweep compares relative brightness across a few canopy points — read through your camera against a white reference card — to what GrowScope's own 3D light map predicts for those same points, anchored to one PPFD reading you already trust from a real meter. It's a diagnostic for where the two disagree, not a replacement for a PAR meter.
Know the moment today stops looking like this plant's normal day.
Environment Fingerprint pulls together everything GrowScope already tracks for a plant — climate, watering, growth rate, leaf color, airflow, fan vibration — into one daily comparison against that same plant's own recent normal. It never compares you to an idealized plant from the internet, and it runs as pure deterministic math on your device, with no AI involved.
