Walk around your plant with your phone. Get a real 3D shape, not a guess.
3D Plant Scan turns a short walk around your plant, phone in hand, into height, crown width, footprint, envelope volume, and density — plus a lightweight 3D shape. Digital Twin then puts that exact shape on your grow box's 3D light and ventilation maps in place of a generic bush.
The problem
A tape measure gives you one number from one angle, taken however carefully you remembered to hold it. It says nothing about how the crown fills in three dimensions, and it can't tell you whether this week's growth is symmetric or lopsided toward the light. Most trackers ask for a single height number and leave it at that.
Why it's hard to solve alone
Crown volume and footprint are what actually drive light interception and, eventually, yield — not height alone. A plant that's grown wider without growing much taller can still be doing exactly what it should. Catching an asymmetric, one-sided crown early is also the moment you can still fix it with a turn or a stake, not after it's set.
How GrowScope helps
Move your phone around the plant while GrowScope tracks coverage in real time and tells you where you still need to shoot. From the resulting silhouettes — or, on phones with a depth sensor, a real point cloud — it computes height, widest crown width, footprint area, and envelope volume, each carrying its own confidence. If you can't walk all the way around because of a SCROG net, a tent wall, or a neighboring plant, the shape is stretched along the direction you couldn't shoot and the app says so, rather than pretending it measured a side it never saw. The same scan also builds a compact 3D shape — Digital Twin — that replaces the generic plant model on your light and ventilation maps with your plant's actual outline.
How it works
- Move your phone around the plant; an on-screen coverage guide shows which side is still missing and flags shots that are too fast or too blurry to use.
- GrowScope computes height, widest crown width, footprint area, envelope volume, and crown density from the silhouettes — phones with a depth sensor add a Precision tier built from a real point cloud, chosen automatically.
- A scan only overwrites your plant's official height/width record once its confidence and coverage clear a minimum bar, so a rushed or partial scan gets flagged instead of silently trusted.
- Today suggests a rescan every two weeks once the plant is past its first two weeks — an optional task, not one that blocks your daily progress ring.
- Digital Twin puts that same shape into the 3D light and ventilation maps, scaled to the plant's current height, with a toggle between its photographed color and a light-intensity color coding.
What you get
Instead of one height number from memory, you get height, width, footprint, volume, and density with confidence, a shape you can watch grow scan over scan, and that same shape sitting inside your actual light map — not a generic placeholder bush.
Frequently asked questions
Does 3D Plant Scan need a special phone?
No — any phone camera works, using silhouettes and a known-size reference (a GrowScope card or your pot). Phones with a depth sensor get an extra Precision tier built from a real point cloud, chosen automatically; the app tells you which tier you're on.
What if I can't walk all the way around the plant?
A partial scan is still useful — GrowScope stretches the shape along whatever direction you couldn't shoot and marks that part of the model honestly rather than guessing a precise volume it can't support.
Does the scan replace measuring height by hand?
It becomes your plant's height/width record automatically, but only once a scan clears a minimum confidence and coverage bar — a rushed scan doesn't quietly overwrite a good manual measurement with a worse one.
Are my scan photos stored or sent anywhere?
No — the scan is processed on your device. GrowScope keeps the resulting measurements and a lightweight 3D shape (typically well under 100 KB), not the photos themselves.
