Plant Comparison and Grower Benchmarks
GrowScope has two separate comparison features that are easy to conflate but work differently: Plant Compare charts a user's own plants against each other, while Benchmarks anonymously compares a plant or finished cycle against other growers.
How to do this in GrowScope
- Open the Compare screen.
- Choose Dynamics (a trend over time) or Current values.
- Select which plants and metrics to compare (growth, light, climate, nutrition, or watering).
- Optionally run the AI difference analysis for a written comparison between two plants.

Grower Benchmarks

- None to enter — published automatically from the user's own AI photo analyses and archived cycles

- Plant screen (development benchmark card) and the Completed-cycles archive (yield benchmark card)

- None to view — appears automatically once enough anonymous samples exist
- Output
- An "Ahead / Behind / Normal" status against peer samples of similar cycle length (and, for balcony grows, only against other balcony samples), or a "Building the database" state if fewer than 5 comparable samples exist yet.

Notes
- Benchmark records are structurally disconnected from accounts: the stored data contains only a cycle length, a day number, a development score (or yield figures), and a place type — never a name, strain, user ID, photo, or analysis text.
- Grow Coach is a related but distinct feature — it compares a user only against their own past cycles, never against other growers.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data shared with other growers when I use Benchmarks?
Only depersonalized numbers are published — cycle length, day, development score or yield figures, and place type. Your name, strain, user ID, photos, and analysis text are never included.
What's the difference between Plant Compare and Benchmarks?
Plant Compare charts your own plants against each other. Benchmarks anonymously compares your plant or cycle against other growers' data.
Is there an app to compare my grow against other growers?
Yes — Grower Benchmarks anonymously compares a plant's development or a finished cycle's yield against other growers of similar cycle length, returning an Ahead/Behind/Normal status. It needs at least 5 comparable samples to activate; before that it shows a 'building the database' state.
Is my grow behind schedule compared to others?
Grower Benchmarks answers this directly with an Ahead/Behind/Normal status against peer samples of similar cycle length (balcony grows are compared only against other balcony samples), based only on depersonalized metrics — never names, strains, or photos.
Is there an app to compare two of my own plants side by side?
Yes — Plant Compare charts growth, light, climate, nutrition, or watering metrics across your own plants, with an optional Pro AI-written comparison explaining the differences between two of them.
