AI Plant Photo Analysis
GrowScope has three distinct AI-vision flows, each with its own photo picker (max 4 photos), credit cost, and history: general daily photo analysis, trichome-based harvest timing, and pest scouting. None of them is a lab diagnosis.
How to do this in GrowScope
- Open the plant's screen and find "Photo and AI analysis."
- Add up to 4 plant photos.
- Tap "Run analysis" (this costs AI credits) — or, on the Free tier with no credits available, just save the photos to history without analysis.
- Wait while the app uploads and analyzes the photos.
- Review the result: a health score, a development score, a canopy-fill percentage, and a written assessment.
AI Plant Analysis
- Category
- Plant Health
- Purpose
- Read up to 4 photos of a plant against its own history to produce a health/development assessment.
- Input
- Up to 4 photos
- Location
- Plant screen → Photo and AI analysis (Today screen)
- User action
- Add up to 4 photos
- Run analysis (AI credits) or save without analysis
- Review the result
- Output
- A health score (0–100), a development score (0–100), a canopy-fill percentage (0–100), and written text whose generating instructions explicitly require separating observation from hypothesis rather than blending them.
- Used by
- Grow Coach (weekly growth trend), Anonymous Benchmarks (development-score sample)
Trichome Tracker
- Category
- Plant Health
- Purpose
- Estimate a harvest window from macro photos of trichomes.
- Input
- Up to 4 macro photos of flower calyxes
- Location
- Plant screen → Health and care → Trichome tracker (unlocks once flowering starts)
- User action
- Add up to 4 sharp macro photos
- Run the trichome analysis
- Output
- A harvest-window estimate — or a request for a clearer photo if the images aren't sharp enough for a reliable read.

Pest Scouting
- Category
- Plant Health
- Purpose
- Screen leaf photos for three specific, visually identifiable pest/disease issues.
- Input
- Up to 4 leaf photos (top and underside, in white light)
- Location
- Plant screen → Plant protection (IPM) → Pest scouting
- User action
- Photograph the top and underside of a leaf
- Run pest scouting
- Optionally add a finding to the IPM log
- Output
- A screening result limited to spider mites, thrips, and powdery mildew — explicitly not a lab diagnosis.

Notes
- Photos are sent to the selected third-party AI provider (Anthropic Claude, or OpenRouter/Google Gemini) only to generate that specific analysis — not used for model training and not resold.
- Free tier without AI credits still lets you save photos to a plant's history without running an analysis.
Frequently asked questions
Is the AI photo analysis a diagnosis?
No. It's a visual screening tool. The instructions it's given explicitly require it to separate what it observes from what it merely suspects, and it can be wrong.
Can pest scouting identify any pest or disease?
No — it's limited to three specific issues: spider mites, thrips, and powdery mildew.
